Assos’ T Equipe Evo is the latest iteration of their classic bib short. It demonstrates how Assos is both timeless and constantly evolving. The TL/DR is these shorts should be a staple in everyone’s closet. They’re comfortable, tough, light, durable, and go with everything.
The paneling is a good bit different than you’ve seen in other bottoms. Assos calls this Aero Patterning Fenomeno1 Design. Basically, when working on making their 2012 Olympic skinsuits faster for people like Fabian Cancellara, they realized that working with fewer panels that wrap the thighs better and are joined mostly at the rear is more comfortable and creates better compression. They also have evolved their bib design a good bit. They call it Y7 Frame Carrier Bib Tech. Wider-cut bibs start wider in front, go around your shoulders wider and join up lower on the back. More comfort all around.
The chamois has also been improved. They call it equipeEvo_S7. Not only does it stretch and wick as you’d expect, but it has a few more tricks. It has 8mm of memory foam inside. It’s better-ventilated in front to keep your nether region drier and cooler. It utilizes Assos goldenGate technology, where the pad isn’t entirely stitched to the shorts so it sits flatter against your body and pulls less.
The grippers are wide and flat. There are reflective tabs sewn into the back of the legs.
The Assos T Equipe Evo Bib Short shows how even the best can learn a few new tricks.
